While it has maintained its rural roots, the community of El Dorado Hills has grown since the time when residents simply referred to their home as “the village.” The El Dorado Hills Town Center offers residents a theater, spa, fitness club, gourmet market, and a variety of stores, restaurants, and bars.
Commuters from El Dorado Hills to Sacramento usually take busy Highway 50. Any major highway can expose drivers to high-speed accidents, but Highway 50 is particularly dangerous when the road surface becomes wet and slippery.
Local roads can be just as dangerous as major highways. Residents recall the tragic death of an El Dorado Hills couple and their two children on Latrobe Road. Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision when one vehicle crossed a double-yellow line.
El Dorado Hills Traffic Accidents
The Office of Traffic Statistics does not report accident statistics for unincorporated communities like El Dorado Hills. It does report statistics for El Dorado County.
During the most recent year that OTS analyzed, 984 victims were injured or killed in El Dorado County traffic accidents. After adjusting for population and miles driven, the OTS determined that the county had the 48th highest injury accident rate of California's 58 counties.
While the county's overall accident is better than average, it is disconcerting to learn that 182 of the county's accident injuries were alcohol related. Perhaps the winery tasting rooms near El Dorado Hills contribute to that statistic. The OTS determined that El Dorado County had the 22nd worst rate of alcohol-related traffic accidents of California's 58 counties.
El Dorado Hills Motorcycle Accidents
Motorcycle accidents are the biggest concern revealed by the OTS statistics in El Dorado County. The OTS ranked the county as the 11th worst in California based on 134 injuries or deaths caused by collisions with motorcycles.
Highway 50 can be particularly perilous for motorcycle riders. The highway becomes slippery when the pavement is wet, making it difficult for drivers and motorcyclists to maintain control when a dangerous situation arises.
El Dorado Hills Traffic Accident Lawsuits
Motorcyclists and other accident victims are entitled to compensation when their injuries are caused by a negligent driver. Attorney Michael Rehm helps accident victims in El Dorado Hills recover compensation for their injuries. Most of our cases settle out of court, usually before filing suit.
When a lawsuit must be filed on behalf of the victim of an El Dorado Hills traffic accident, it is heard in the El Dorado County Superior Court. That court has three branches. The main branch is in Placerville. The others are in South Lake Tahoe and Cameron Park Branch. Depending on the availability of judges, the case will probably be heard in Cameron Park. The courthouse is located at 3321 Cameron Park Drive.
At any given time, there are about 100 motor vehicle accident lawsuits pending in El Dorado County. During the most recent year for which statistics are available, only one motor vehicle accident lawsuit went to trial. Another 98 motor vehicle accident lawsuits were settled without a trial.
