A number of festivals throughout the year showcase the Elk Grove's heritage and its mix of diverse cultures. The Cosumnes River Preserve, Stone Lakes Refuge, and Laguna Creek Parkway allow residents to enjoy unspoiled nature. There's something for everyone in Elk Grove.

Elk Grove Traffic Accidents

On top of the other benefits of living in Elk Grove, the city's traffic accident rate is better than the California average. In the most recent year analyzed by the Office of Traffic Safety, Elk Grove had 783 crashes that caused an injury or death. That's a substantial number, bur for a city of its size, the OTS ranked Elk Grove as having the 38th worst injury accident rate of 59 comparable California cities, after adjusting for population and miles driven.

Even better news is that Elk Grove had only 17 motorcycle accidents that caused injury or death. Only two cities had a better motorcycle accident ranking than Elk Grove.

Pedestrian and Bicycle Accidents in Elk Grove

Unfortunately, the statistics for pedestrians and bicyclists should give Elk Grove residents cause for concern. Elk Grove only had 32 pedestrian accidents, for a relatively favorable ranking of 45th of 59. Yet 10 of those accidents involved children under the age of 15. In that category, Elk Grove ranked 8th worst of 59 cities.

The statistics for bicycle accidents are even worse. Elk Grove had 49 bicycle accidents, resulting in a ranking of 20th of 59. When OTS examined bicycle accident victims under the age of 15, however, it found that 19 of the 49 bicycle accidents were young. Elk Grove had the worst ranking of 59 comparable California cities for bicycle accidents involving victims younger than 15.
