Grass Valley Traffic Accidents

Notwithstanding its proximity to wineries, drunk driving accidents are not common in Grass Valley. In the most recent year analyzed by California's Office of Traffic Safety, the OTS recorded only one alcohol-involved injury accident.

The OTS recorded a total of 23 accidents that caused an injury or death. The OTS compared Grass Valley's accidents to 102 other small California cities. After adjusting for population and miles driven, the OTS determined that only 18 of the 102 cities had a lower injury accident rate than Grass Valley. And only 12 had a lower rate of alcohol-involved injury accidents.

Grass Valley had no bicycle accidents in the most recent OTS analysis. It did have three pedestrian accidents. The OTS ranked Grass Valley 55th of 102 comparable cities for pedestrian accidents.

Motorcycle Accidents in Grass Valley CA

Perhaps because so many motorcycle riders visit Grass Valley, the city's rate of collisions with motorcycles is higher than average. The OTS reported that five of the city's 23 traffic accident victims were motorcyclists. The OTS ranked Grass Valley as the 16th worst of 102 similar cities in the category of motorcycle injury accidents.

Motorcycle riders and other victims of a collision with a careless driver are entitled to seek compensation for their losses.

Only one of the five judges in Nevada County presides over motor vehicle accident lawsuits. When the lawsuit involves a Grass Valley accident, the judge will usually hold hearings on the third floor of the Historic Courthouse in Nevada City. The courthouse is located at 201 Church Street.

The Superior Court in Nevada County is a relatively low-volume court. In the most recent year for which statistics are available, 54 motor vehicle accident lawsuits were filed and 42 were resolved. None of the 42 cases went to trial. Two were dismissed and the other 40 settled.
