Motorcycle, Pedestrian, and Bicycle Accidents in San Luis Obispo
Collisions involving motorcycles accounted for 17 of the city's accidents in the most recent year that OTS analyzed. That relatively high number in a small city gave San Luis Obispo the ninth worst record of motorcycle accident injuries and fatalities.
The city's ranking for pedestrian accidents is almost as bad. San Luis Obispo's 27 pedestrian victims caused OTS to rank the city as the 13th worst of the 94 comparable cities.
The city's worst ranking, however, involves accident victims who were riding bicycles. The 34 bicyclists who were injured or killed gave San Luis Obispo the fourth worst record as compared to similar California cities. San Luis Obispo needs to make major changes to protect its bicycle riders from traffic accidents.
